For my first assignment in my modeling specialty class, I was tasked with modeling a wooden plank. The point of this assignment was to gain an understanding that even the most simple seeming models could have a decent level of complexity. I decided to create a plank that looked worn down, as though it had been exposed to the elements for a long time. To start this assignment, I blocked out a model in Maya and sculpted details onto it in Zbrush. I then brought the model back into Maya for re-topology. Texture work was done in Substance Painter before bringing the model back into Maya for rendering.
